A Full 8 Ounces

A Full 8 Ounces
By: Kevin Bryant

I pledge allegiance to the man
And not to the flag of America
And to the socialist state
For which he builds
One party rule
Under Obama
All empowered
With no liberties or justice for any

Before this so called stimulus package was ever passed, VP Joe Biden stated that there was a 30% chance they would get it wrong. Before President Obama signed this bill into law, there were hints of Stimulus II already making its way around certain circles. Almost immediately after signing this bill into law, President Obama stated that the idea of a second package was not off the table.

We cannot expect the Americans to jump from capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving Americans small doses of socialism until they suddenly awake to find they have Communism. - Nikita Khrushchev

My first permanent assignment in the navy was a supply ship that carried a crew of roughly 270 officers and enlisted. Having spent 45 months on there, you pretty much get to know everyone. One day I was out walking around the flight deck just getting some air and a cook that slept two rows over from me came out about the same time. We walked around the mini flight deck shooting the breeze and he made a comment about me giving him a ration of “crap”. I asked him how much “crap” it takes to make a ration and he stated that the navy manual says it’s a full 8 ounces.

Ladies and Gentlemen, since January 2001 and the end of the Reagan Republican era, we have been receiving those small doses of socialism from our U.S. Congress. Since January 2007, we have been getting our full helpings of socialism from Congress. Since January 2009, it just continually flows with as much volume as water flowing from the Mississippi River.

We hear from The Big Three: Obama, Pelosi & Reid, the words security and comfort used in every speech they make. We hear how the government is going to provide that for us. I never remember my grandparents or even my parents using those words when talking about the government. I never once heard them say that they demanded or even wanted those things from the government. They grew up in a time where personal responsibility was taught both at home and in school. They were taught that we are what we make of ourselves.

There are several variations of a quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin. The quote is something like “He who would surrender a little freedom for security deserves neither and will lose both”. I think those words speak more truth now than at any other time in our nations history except maybe during the time of the Revolutionary War.

These are dangerous times. We are being lead by our government in a direction that has never before been seen in our 230 plus year history. The road that we are traveling is paved with uncertainty and is littered with tried and failed policies. A Stimulus II package would most certainly contain elements that would further diminish our freedoms beyond the current package and done so in the name of security.

Congress and President Bush knew that most of America did not want the bank bailout. This congress and President Obama knew that most Americans did not want this stimulus package passed. America was ignored both times. If conservatives do not now stand up and voice in unison our disgust with this congress and administration on how they ignore us, if we do not raise our voices to be heard over the loads of “crap” that the Big Three spew out on a daily basis, if we don’t put every effort into the defeat of those in both houses of congress who’s ears tune out our words, then conservatism, freedom, liberty and free enterprise loses and is likely never to recover from the blows they have been dealt over the years and especially the past 6 months.

Is it just me, or……

Is it just me, or……

Do you wonder where you can actually FIND the senate stimulus plan, to make an informed decision about whether to support it or not?

Do you wonder why Democrats call everything they do “bipartisan support” whether the Republicans were part of it or not?

Do you wonder how the reported 586 items of “pork” in the stimulus plan (if you can find it) are supposed to help America?

Do you wonder why Obama doesn’t work for the IRS collection department, because just a mere appointment to a cabinet position seems to free the uncollected funds from tax dodgers at previously unheard of level?

Do you wonder why the ability to do a job out weighs morally and ethicly correct behavior in the democratic view?

Do you wonder when did the senate eliminate a true two party dynamic in the writing of bills, stimulus plans, and any other social programs?

Do you wonder how the very same people that were responsible for the housing financial problems stay in their committees, and continue to make mistakes, but claim them now as being in our “best interests?”

Do you wonder if those same members of Congress will ever be the subjects of an ethic committee investigation?

Do you wonder how going from a $439 billion dollar deficit to a $2 to $3 trillion dollar deficit will fix our financial woes?

Do you wonder what the status of the Community Reinvestment Act of 1977 is now? If the wealthy can’t buy a house with an excellent credit score are those undeclared income loans still being made, or are the banks in violation of that act?

Do you wonder why the permanently surprised looking Rep.Nancy Pelosi leader of the house, could write an $830 billion dollar stimulus package when she claimed there were 500 million people unemployed in our country, when there are only 300 million in the US?

Do you wonder how we can wage yet another war in Afghanistan, while decreasing military spending by 10%, and promising to eliminate the nuclear arsenal?

Do you wonder about the increasingly partisan rhetoric totally excluding the Republican Party?

Do you wonder with an increasing posture of the Soviet Union to the Cold War status, who will fund the military, with all our funds for the next 10 years being used to nationalize/socialize our financial sector?

Do you wonder who has the right to sign off our rights as citizens to self-government, and hand that power to the United Nations for a New World Order?

Do you wonder why it costs $330,000 to create a job that pays $30,000 a year? Is the clerical expenditure that costly in government?

Still true to character…

Still true to character…

The $825 billion that has been labeled as “stimulus” has surfaced as nothing more then pork barrel projects, and things that don’t add a dime to the GNP. Originally touted as a project to rebuild infrastructure (road repair money), in truth gives very little money for federal road repairs.

The breakdown goes something like this; Of the $550 billion in federal funds, only $30 billion would be directed to highway construction, $43 billion is earmarked to expand unemployment benefits and fund job-training programs. Another $54 billion is set aside for renewable energy development and other conservation projects, like insulation for lower-income housing. And $10 billion is included for scientific research and research facilities already funded by the federal government.

“It’s a grab bag for every liberal program that Democrats have wanted or enacted for years,” said Arizona Rep. Jeff Flake, an aggressive opponent of federal spending.

The early criticism focused on presumed “earmarks” – a favorite war cry for some Republicans – including $200 million for re-sodding the National Mall and money for a mob museum in Las Vegas. Last week, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California referred to the House bill as an “$825 billion earmark” to expand the federal government.

$600 million will be used to replace the entire fleet of government cars with new “green” vehicles. $4.2 billion has been hidden as money for “neighborhood stabilization programs,” a cleverly worded refunding of ACORN. Remember them? They are the neo-nazi left wing radical group that the democratic congress uses for their “dirty work.”

With not even a month into Obama’s administration, the new President along with a consenting congress has spent their way to doubling the national debt. Undoubtedly they will blame the past President, even though he basically gave up all his personal decisions to the newly elected Senator from IL. some 2 months from his actual inauguration.

In the whole spending frenzy has anyone seen an increase in spending on the military? Have they approved wage increases for the military salaries? But they have automatic increases in place for congress! Obama has expressed an interest in waging war in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and hasn’t increased spending in the military? George Bush had to wage a war after the Clinton Administration had cut the defense budget in half from the Reagan Administration.

Senate Republicans feel railroaded at this point. Not wanting to “offend” the new and very popular President, they feel as if they need to vote in favor of the stimulus plan just to placate the democrats who seek to dilute the power of the remaining Republicans.

Monday the country of Iceland’s government has failed, amidst financial problems. The government, recently elected as a fiscally conservative group, could not overcome the problems caused by the previous ruling party. They site a combination of past spending, and the present climate of international financial distress as the cause of the failure. The government has been disbanded and total collapse is eminent.

Even though Iceland is a small country, it underlines the need for a fiscal responsibility long before the damage is irreversible. Our country cannot stand the social/economic problems we are experiencing now, without massive changes. The last three years we have experienced a total domination of a democratic congress, and now we have a democratic President. There is no longer a check and balance system in our government, and left unchecked they will ramrod every social entitlement they can down our throats. We should be reducing government in our lives, not creating more.
