What Part of 'Party of No' Don't You Understand?

What Part of 'Party of No' Don't You Understand?
by Ann Coulter

02/25/2010

Inasmuch as Obamacare has a snowball's chance in hell of passing (but did you see how much snow they got in hell last week?), everyone is wondering what President Obama is up to by calling Republicans to a televised Reykjavik summit this week to discuss socializing health care.

At least they served beer at the last White House summit this stupid and pointless.

If the president is serious about passing nationalized health care, he ought to be meeting with the Democrats, not the Republicans.

Republicans can't stop the Democrats from socializing health care: They are a tiny minority party in both the House and the Senate. (Note to America: You might want to keep this in mind next time you go to the polls.)

As the Democratic base has been hysterically pointing out, both the House and the Senate have already passed national health care bills. Either body could vote for the other's bill, and -- presto! -- Obama would have a national health care bill, replete with death panels, abortion coverage and lots and lots of new government commissions!

Sadly, as the president's Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel has noted, the Democratic base is "@#$%^ retarded."

The reason massive Democratic majorities in Congress aren't enough to pass socialist health care is AMERICANS DON'T WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE!

In fact, you might say that the nation is in a boiling cauldron of rage against it. Consequently, a lot of Democrats are suddenly having second thoughts about vast new government commissions regulating every aspect of Americans' medical care.

Obama isn't stupid -- he's not seriously trying to get a health care bill passed. The whole purpose of this public "summit" with the minority party is to muddy up the Republicans before the November elections. You know, the elections Democrats are going to lose because of this whole health care thing.

Right now, Americans are hopping mad, swinging a stick and hoping to hit anyone who so much as thinks about nationalizing health care.

If they could, Americans would cut the power to the Capitol, throw everyone out and try to deport them. (Whereas I say: Anyone in Washington, D.C., who can produce an original copy of a valid U.S. birth certificate should be allowed to stay.)

But the Democrats think it's a good strategy to call the Republicans "The Party of No." When it comes to Obamacare, Americans don't want a party of "No," they want a party of "Hell, No!" or, as Rahm Emanuel might say, "*&^%$#@ No!"

It's as if the patient has a minor fever and the Democrats (as doctor in this example) want to cut off his arms and legs. The Republicans want to give the patient two aspirin. "Compromise" means the Republicans agree to amputate only one arm and one leg.

Complaining that Republicans are "obstructionists" is not a damaging charge when most Americans are dying to obstruct the Democrats with a 2-by-4. While you're at it, Democrats, why not call the GOP the "Party of Brave Patriots"?

So Obama's sole objective at the "summit" is to hoodwink Republicans into agreeing with some of his wildly unpopular ideas on national TV. If this were a reality show on NBC, it would be called, "Dateline: To Catch a R.I.N.O."

This shouldn't be hard, inasmuch as he will be talking to elected Republicans. About a third of them were enthusiastically engaging in "bipartisanship" on Obamacare last year -- Chuck Grassley, you know who you are! (That's better than Lindsey Graham, who still wants to compromise.)

And then the American people spoke up.

In town halls and tea parties across the nation, Obama lost the argument with Americans. So now he wants a debating partner who will be less challenging: elected Republicans.

If Republicans were smart, they'd shock the world by sending in one of their most appealing members of Congress, who can speak clearly on health care -- Sen. Jon Kyl, Rep. Steve King or Rep. Ron Paul.

Actually, if the Republicans were really smart, they'd send in 14-year-old Jonathan Krohn, who understands the free market better than most people in Washington. Of course, so does my houseplant.

There are other important points Republicans cannot raise often enough -- such as putting scuzzy medical malpractice lawyers like John Edwards out of business. OK, that wasn't fair: Even trial lawyers are almost never as scuzzy as John Edwards. We want to put them all out of business.

But there's really only one idea the Republicans must cling to -- like they're clinging to their guns and religion! -- in order to resist agreeing to something moronic and losing their advantage as Americans' only allies in Washington.

Please, Republicans, remember the free market -- the same free market that gave us cheap cell phones, computers, flat-screen TVs, and stylish, affordable eyeglasses in about an hour.

Congress needs to outlaw state and federal mandates on insurance companies and allow interstate competition in health insurance.

The end.

Love, the American People.

Harry Reid likens Healthcare protesters to people who supported slavery

Harry Reid likens Healthcare protesters to people who supported slavery
Al Ritter

This has to be not only the most contentious comment ever made in the Senate, but also the most false. I’m not exactly sure what Harry Reid wanted to accomplish with this falsehood, but his knowledge of history is sorely lacking.

I can’t help but to liken his comment to someone who would make the very comparison of the Tea Party participants to followers of Hitler. Yes Nancy Pelosi, I am talking about YOU. They stop at nothing to promote falsehoods about parties other than theirs. The group that Nancy Pelosi talked about showing swastikas and Obama with a Hitler style mustache is actually the Lyndon Larouche followers, a LEFT WING fringe of the liberal party! Yet she spewed her hatred, and cried a few crocodile tears of fake fear.

Today Senator Harry Reid likened the Healthcare Reform protestors to the same people who supported slavery! I was dumbfounded! His comments were as misplaced as Pelosi’s. The following came from the National Black Republican Caucus this summer as they demanded an apology from the Democrats for the actions of slavery and their inaction, and in some cases, actively supporting slavery.

“The fact that Republicans today are not racists is explained clearly in the article “The Myth of the Racist Republicans” by Gerard Alexander that is posted on the Claremont Institute’s website at: http://www.claremont.org/publications/crb/id.928/article_detail.asp

Democrats generate false charges of racism in the Republican Party in order to keep blacks from voting for Republicans by conjuring up such names as Trent Lott, Willie Horton, David Duke, Lee Atwater, and Hurricane Katrina, as well as racially explosive words such as “black voter suppression” and the Confederate flag. Democrats also make the bogus assertion that the Republican Party is “the party of the rich”. When one charge is refuted, Democrats move on to the next one. The truth does not matter.

Trent Lott - Democrats denounced Senator Trent Lott for his remarks about Senator Strom Thurmond. However, there was silence when Democrat Senator Christopher Dodd praised Senator Byrd, a former official in the Ku Klux Klan, as someone who would have been "a great senator for any moment.” Senator Thurmond was never in the Ku Klux Klan and, after he became a Republican, Thurmond defended blacks against lynching and the discriminatory poll taxes imposed on blacks by Democrats.

Willie Horton - When castigating Republicans about the Willie Horton ad, Democrats ignore the fact that it was former Vice President Al Gore who first brought up Willie Horton’s name against Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis during the 1998 primary election because, after Dukakis released convicted murderer Willie Horton from prison on a weekend furlough, Horton raped a woman and stabbed her husband.

In the general election, former President George H. W. Bush followed the example of Al Gore and used the name of Willie Horton against Dukakis who was the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee. Today, Democrats condemn G.H.W. Bush about Willie Horton, but hypocritically give Gore a pass.

David Duke and Robert Byrd - It is also hypocritical and disingenuous for Democrats to point a finger at extremist David Duke who has not been embraced by the Republican Party, while remaining silent about the fact that former Klansman Senator Robert Byrd is still being embraced by the Democratic Party.
Byrd who was a fierce opponent of desegregating the military complained in one letter: “I would rather die a thousand times and see old glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again than see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen of the wilds”.

In the early 1970's, Byrd pushed to have the Senate's main office building named after a former "Dixiecrat”, Democrat Senator Richard Russell who was Byrd's mentor and leading opponent of ant-lynching legislation. In 2001 Byrd was forced to apologize for using the "N-word" on television. While an Illinois Senator, President Barack Obama wrote a letter of support for Byrd that helped that racist win re-election.

Lee Atwater - The quest by Democrats to continuously paint the Republican Party as a racist party knows no bound. Democrats are shamefully sullying the memory of Lee Atwater by falsely accusing him of using the “N-Word” in 1981, ten years before he died of a brain tumor on March 30, 1991 at age 40. Atwater was a tough political strategist who beat the Democrats in the political area, but he was not a racist.

Note that the charge that Atwater uttered a racist statement using the “N-word” was made by a liberal Professor Alexander P. Lamis, a native of South Carolina, who had worked as a research assistant at the liberal Brookings Institution before joining the Case Western Reserve University faculty in 1988.

Professor Lamis claimed that Artwater made a racist statement in 1981, 18 years before Lamis wrote his book in 1999 (which was written 8 years after Atwater died in 1991) about politics in the 1990s. The title of Lamis’ book is Southern Politics in the 1990s. If Atwater had made such an explosive, racist remark, why did Lamis not report that to the media in 1981 (or at any time during the 10 years before Atwater died) in order to destroy Atwater as a political strategist?

In Atwater’s obituary written by Michael Oreskes that was published in “The New York Times” the morning Atwater died, Oreskes made an effort to trash Atwater even before his body had cooled, using every negative thing ever written or said about Atwater. Yet, Oreskes never once mentioned any statement made by Atwater in 1981 where he used the “N-word” as claimed by Lamis. The mean-spirited obituary about Lee Atwater that was published in ”The New York Times” on March 30, 1991 can be found on the Internet at:

Lowering Health Care Standards

Lowering Health Care Standards
Kevin Bryant

It looks like government ran Obamacare is already lowering the healthcare standards for Americans and the bill hasn’t even passed the senate yet. Completing a study that supports the recommendations of the World Health Organization, Obamacare is laying the foundation of weighing medical cost against human life

"If you get sick, America, the Republican health care plan is this: Die quickly," - Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.)

Remember this little jewel of a comment from way back in September of this year? Well, he was partially correct. There is a political party that does want Americans to die quicker it seems, but it isn’t the Republican health care plan. Looks like it is going to be the Democrat /Obamacare plan.

Well ladies, it sounds to me like this administration wants you to die quicker. No longer do you need those annual mammograms. They are a waste of time and money and according to the latest GOVERNMENT study, having them annually saves very few lives. Every 2 years is more to their liking. As for those self examinations just about every women’s organization and every cancer group tells you that you need to do every so often, well the GOVERNMENT doesn’t want you to do them because 10% of the time they lead to false reporting of potential problems. Ladies, did you get that? This is the Obama administration is looking out for your best interest.

So, in review, 90% of the time when a lump is found during a self examination of the breast, there is actually something there that would warrant attention from a physician but that 90% isn’t high enough for the government to support you doing this in a timely and routine fashion. The cost of those 10% false readings cost too much for the government to warrant health care attention. Any physician will tell you that the earlier cancer is detected, the better the odds for a full and complete recovery. If you get a mammogram in August and develop undetected breast cancer in October of that same year, don’t worry about that next mammogram you scheduled for the following year, it’s a waste of time and money. You will be just fine waiting an additional year before it is detected and if you happen to die because of the long wait between screenings, you will be just one of a handful that die and it won’t matter much to the national statistics. You will have done your part by saving the government $1000’s in exam and treatment cost. Explain to me how the loss of even one life can justified in dollars and cents when having an exam annually instead of an every two years would have greatly increased a person’s chances of surviving.

Also, no longer are those painful mammograms necessary at age 40, the age recommended by the American Cancer Society. NO, the GOVERNMENT wants you to wait until you are 50 before having a mammogram done. It doesn’t matter to President Obama, HHS Secretary Sebelius or the administration that some women develop breast cancer in their 20’s and the risk goes up as we increase in age. Things aren’t looking too good for any woman that gets breast cancer before she turns 50. Under the government recommendations, the loss of your life is acceptable.

If I could afford it and it served my own interest, I can pay for a study that shows heavy drinking is good for your health. I could produce facts that would tell you that smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day will not increase your health risk. Heck, I could even produce a study that supports the theory of driving and driving increases awareness when behind the wheel. It would not change the fact that the conclusion of all these studies would be wrong just as it is wrong to weigh the cost of treating cancer against the chances of survival.

Very few lives would be saved. I would like President Obama and HHS Secretary Sebelius explain this to every grieving husband who loses a wife to breast cancer, that they were right in mandating fewer mammograms, and look every family member in the eye and tell them that their mother’s death was for the greater good.

Nancy Pelosi wants to tax ‘Cadillac Insurance Plans’

A few house Democrats including Nancy Pelosi want to tax health insurance plans based on their cost rather than their contents. They want to tax any health insurance plan that costs $8000 for an individual, or $21,000 for a family.

No dispensations will be given for the difference between the costs of an individual plan or a group plan, or will there any for the age of the insured. No dispensation will be given for how many people will be in the “family” plan.

Now to put this into realistic terms, any individual that pays $666 a month will be considered to have a Cadillac plan. Any family that pays $1750 a month will be considered as having a Cadillac plan.

It has been reported that “most” house Democrats don’t approve of this plan, I have to wonder if their collective dismay has more to do with the plight of their constituents, or they possibility of being labeled as having “Cadillac plans” themselves.

To give you a practical example of how this can affect an individual plan, my insurance plan costs me $430 a month. It isn’t extravagant, it doesn’t have a bunch of bells and whistles, it has a high deductable, and then 100% payment after that. At my age this plan increases almost $100 a month every year. So within a maximum of 3 years, although I haven’t changed one thing about my coverage, I will be branded with having a Cadillac plan based solely on cost. Does this make sense?

Repossessing Grandma

Repossessing Grandma
Kevin Bryant

A nice little story came out last Friday that hardly anyone picked up on.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/10/02/medical-devices-taxed-baucus-health/

What on earth is this all about? Taxes on medical devices? Would someone please explain to me how in the hell do false teeth qualify as a medical device? What on earth are they going to do? You can’t pay the tax on your teeth so the government going to come and repossess them? Better yet, you get a pacemaker and can’t pay the taxes on it. Is the IRS going to come and cut grandma’s chest open and seize the stupid thing? Of course the IRS isn’t that stupid, are they? Most likely the way this administration is running things, they will come and collect grandma and all the other recipients who can’t pay their taxes on pacemakers, defibulators, hip replacements, insulin pumps and God knows what else will qualify. Nope, they will repossess the person and sell them off at public auctions. This way they aren’t liable for the care.

This has got to be icing on the cake of Obama healthcare stupidity.

It would literally take a moron like Max Baucus to dream this up. I mean really, how stupid can this man be? Wait, I didn’t say that. Reid and Pelosi are even worse, BUT NOT BY MUCH.

And did we all see that mini-Obama infomercial the other day on the White House lawn. Obama hand picks 150 doctors who belong to an organization that supported him during the election, giving each and every one a bright and shiny new doctor’s lab coat and hails tons of praise upon them for knowing a good health care plan when he presents one. When I first saw the news clip, and this is really bad of me, the first thing that went through my mind was, they have the jackets, where are the white hoods.

Speaking of Obama, how much of the tax payer’s money did you waste sending your wife and Oprah over to Copenhagen ahead of you then to only have all of you embarrass yourselves? Al Gore had to be smiling brightly knowing that you put more green house gasses in the air in two days than he does in his private jet in week. And Michelle Obama’s little speech, sitting there in her daddy’s lap when she was 20 and cheering on Carl Lewis in the Olympics. I really do feel sorry for her dad. Muscle weighs more than fat and we all know Michelle Obama is certainly not fat nor is she small. Pound for pound, she probably has more muscles than her hubby. I think she could take him in a fist fight. Don’t you feel sorry for her dad? Think about it, she probably goes what, 150 pounds. Think of someone weighing 150 sitting in your lap for an hour watching television, bouncing up and down while cheering Carl Lewis on to victory. The poor guy’s legs had to have been blood deprived to the point where he couldn’t stand up for a good couple of hours at best.

Is it just me or does everyone feel like there is so much garbage and stupidity coming out of congress and the white house week in and week out that it’s impossible to concentrate on one thing? As soon as I sit down to write something down on a single subject, something bigger and dumber comes along. If the Obamamaniacs are right and his I.Q. is almost off the charts, then he has to be the dumbest smart man in history. Could it be in reality that he is just an average person with an average I.Q. and the people propping him up are so stupid they don’t know the difference?

Am I being a little cynical today? Yes I am. I’m so sick and tired of all the Chicago back scratching, lying about ACORN, giving away our own national sovereignty, shredding of the constitution, lying to the general public, radical leftist czars, and the whole mess in general. How long can this man sit on the oval office and blame Bush for everything and not have the media call him on it? How long is the media going to allow him to go overseas and trash America and keep silent? When is the media going to wake up and figure out that we can’t afford government healthcare. We can’t afford Medicare and Medicaid now. You think there are people now who are not going to be able to afford their heating bills this winter, just wait until Cap & Trade takes effect. Like the days of old when the evening news would give the daily body counts of American soldiers who died in Vietnam only those figures will be replaced by how many elderly died from lack of heat in their homes here in the U.S. because they couldn’t afford their heating bills thanks to Cap & Trade.

What kind of America are we living in where we have people in congress that want to tax people for motorized wheel chairs and life saving implants? What kind of President do we have when his own trusted circle would rather have our pilots shoot down Israeli planes rather than let them take out Iran’s nuclear reactors? What happened to the Founding Fathers dream of a free nation? We The People, the very words than begin the preamble to the constitution, were placed there for a reason. It was so that we never forget that the citizens of this country are the ones who hold the true power in this nation. Abraham Lincoln stated at Gettysburg: “Our Forefathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal”. What does it say when a group of 545 people (President, members of congress and the supreme court) gather unto itself the power to rule absolute over 350 million and the 350 million allow it to happen?

Whatever happened to: God, Country & Family above all else?

New Health-care reform czar?

Dr. Jack Kervorkian
Maybe some remember this infamous Doctor, and maybe some don’t, he was the poster child for planned suicide, a doctor that assisted patients in euthanasia. He was imprisoned and has served his term, less time for good behavior. He may now figure into the Health-care reform as hidden in the health-care reform starting on page 424 and continuing to page 430.

It seems that as many seniors look forward to going into Medicare to have a large portion of your healthcare paid for, and to enjoy your later years. The Administration looks at that portion of your life very differently. Starting at age 65 and then again every five years, the government mandate will force you to talk to your general practitioner about “end of life directives.” To talk about living wills, final directives and end stage care. This goes hand in hand with the rest of the reform, where the elderly will be treated as second class citizens, and treatment will be denied based on monetary concerns only, viewing the elderly as a group of diminishing returns.

Betsy McCaughey, a former New York state officer, commenting on the bill said this, “ As a patient advocate I am so shocked at the vicious assault on elderly people and the boomer generation. I hope people listening will protect their parents from what is intended under this bill."

This is way too creepy to even comprehend, my mind goes back to the 60’s movie Soylent Green with Charlton Heston…..look it up, it’s coming to a house near you!
