Are Your Participles Dangling?
(n) dangling participle (a participle (usually at the beginning of a sentence) apparently modifying a word other than the word intended: e.g., `flying across the country' in `flying across the country the Rockies came into view')
Roaming around the internet this morning (another example of a dangling participle) I came across a blogger who I've never visited before who was extremely concerned about inadvertently using dangling participles. Gimme a break! I truly don't think anyone cares. Do you worry about your dangling participles? Will you not visit me if I my participles dangle? Do I care whether they're dangling or not? To tell you the truth I don't even think about it. There are enough things to concern ourselves with other than dangling participles:
We've got floods.
We've got fires.
We've got honor killings in Missouri, Ohio, New Jersey, New York, Texas and probably even more that I don't know about.
We've got Illegal Immigration.
We've got Christian bashing.
We've got Partial Birth Abortion.
We've got Code Pink.
We've got the ACLU.
We've got Global Warming.
Or is it Global Cooling?
Oops... I forgot! It's Climate Change.
Did I mention we've got a war against terrorism?
Not that we're in any danger of forgetting, but we've also got Obama. Why didn't I link to Obama? Ha! I figure if anyone wants him they can go find him for themselves.
Mc Cain is hiding out on my last post.
